Lt Col Sarah Bergkamp
Bio
Lieutenant Colonel Sarah L. Bergkamp is the Professor of Aerospace Studies and the Commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 595 at North Carolina State University, Raleigh. In this capacity, Lt Col Bergkamp leads a cadre of officers and enlisted members responsible for recruiting, educating, training and motivating officer candidates for the United States Air Force.
Lt Col Bergkamp graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2005 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and earned her pilot wings at Laughlin AFB, Texas in 2007. She is a command pilot with over 700 combat hours flying the KC-135R/T in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. As an Air Mobility Command Phoenix Reach instructor pilot, Lt Col Bergkamp has both airlift and air refueling experience and has amassed more than 2,300 hours in the KC-135R/T, C-130H, and C-130J aircraft.
Lt Col Bergkamp has served in a variety of squadron, group, and staff level positions. Prior to filling her current position, she was Deputy Commander, 22d Operations Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.
